My wife and I have enjoyed watching the "Conjuring" franchise and were looking forward to seeing what they've advertised as the final "last rites" if you will. As I'm typing this, "The Conjuring: The Last Rites" has become the biggest horror film opener of all time! $194 million world wide, outdoing the same studios' "It" from 2017!
The film wasn't that bad actually. The story follows Ed & Lorraine Warren who are supposedly retired, but come back one last time to fight evil along with the help of their daughter. I don't know how much of this story is based on fact or not, but a lot of the details of the case seem to match up in the film (although some of the horror scenes in the climax seem a bit far-fetched). The 2 hour 15 minute run time also felt a little bloated and the ending especially could've been trimmed by 15-20 minutes, but for the most part it was on par with the previous "Conjuring" films. There's really nothing new here and it is rather predictable, but again very entertaining and good enough for at least a one time watch.
Interestingly enough, the real house of the Paranormal investigators (Ed & Lorraine Warren) is up for a foreclosure auction on October 31st (interesting timing). You can read all about that by clicking here!
